Hello my dear gentlemen 😘,

I thought you would rather click on this blog entry if “sex” was in the title 🤣. Today I would like to address a rather unpleasant and serious topic 😯.

If you notice any skin alterations on your body, PLEASE GO TO THE DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY FOR A CHECK-UP! Actually, you shouldn’t have to say something like that to grown-up people, but unfortunately it seems to be necessary.

I recently had the case that a gentleman had a fungal groin infection and I had to address this during our date. Of course, I was very uncomfortable with addressing this, because I knew it was going to be a mood killer, but I had to do so. The gentleman was surprised with my diagnosis, said he had had this for about 4 weeks and didn’t know what it could be. Then, after I showed him photos of a fungal groin infection on the Internet, everything became clear to him.

Why did I immediately recognize it as a fungal groin infection? Because I’ve had the same case with another gentleman some time before. At that time I thought “this must be just a harmless non-contagious skin irritation, because someone would certainly have a skin alteration like this checked out by a doctor immediately, just for ones own safety“. So I didn’t ask the gentlemen about it at the time, because I didn’t want to ruin the mood and appear “fussy”. I had just trusted that the gentleman had this medically clarified and he certainly wouldn’t have arranged a date if it was something contagious.

I had to realize that it wasn’t just a harmless, non-contagious skin irritation when, a few days later, I noticed that my skin was starting to change in my groin area as well and the doctor (whom I had visited IMMEDIATELY, of course) diagnosed a fungal groin infection, which I had to treat with a special ointment. This also meant that I couldn’t go on any dates for about 2 weeks, because of course I didn’t want to infect anyone with it. Furthermore, a fungal groin infection also looks quite gross and you shouldn’t want to expose anyone to it, even just visually.

In addition to a fungal groin infection, there are of course other skin changes that should be checked out immediately by a doctor. If you notice e.g. stalk-shaped small warts in the genital area, these are genital warts that are caused by HPV (human papillomavirus). Even a single tiny genital wart can be contagious through direct contact. So you have, for example, a small genital wart on your testicles, then have protected sex, whereby the testicles touch the woman’s genital area during penetration and she can become infected with HPV and also get genital warts on the labia. Of course, the same applies the other way around, that is, if a woman has genital warts on her labia (even just a single small one) and the man’s testicles come into contact with it during intercourse.

This does not require unprotected sex (which one should only have in a monogamous relationship anyway!), but it is sufficient if the testicles (and men tend to develop genital warts on them specifically) touch the woman’s labia during sex and one of them has genital warts. Whether genital warts actually develop in the sex partner depends, among other things, on the immune system of the person concerned, which first tries to fight the pathogens. So if you have a weakened immune system, you’re more susceptible to genital warts if you (not literally, but actually) come into contact with them. If you have a strong immune system, it can (not always) also successfully fight the pathogens without genital warts developing.

Having intimate contact with other people also means having to act RESPONSIBLY. It means having to pay close attention to skin changes on your own body and have them checked out by a doctor IMMEDIATELY in order to not expose your sexual partners to any possible infection. Please be aware of this responsibility and act accordingly if you have changing sexual partners! A fungal groin infection or genital warts are not a drama (nor are they just sexually transmissible!), but you don’t want to put anyone else through this.

Yours, Ava 💋
